J S Bach Cantata No 209: Non sa che sia dolore
Renowned violinist Rachel Podger leads her hand-picked international ensemble Brecon Baroque, with rising star mezzo Ciara Hendrick, in a programme of striking contrasts.
It explores J S Bach’s musical antecedents, in works by two of the most illustrious 17th-century members of his large family of Lutheran musicians and by his admired model Buxtehude. And it ends with two works by J S Bach himself, the brilliant Triple Concerto and a bubbling Italian secular cantata with solo flute.
