This concert brings together two acclaimed musicians to play the music of J S Bach and Girolamo Frescobaldi.  Adrian Brendel needs no introduction as the cellist of The Nash Ensemble, and is recognised as one of the leading cellists of the current generation.  Sophie Yates is award-winning and critically acclaimed, described by the Daily Telegraph as “one of Britain’s most talented harpsichordists”.  Frescobaldi’s name may not trip off the tongue today, but contemporary critics acknowledged him as one of the great trendsetters of keyboard music of the early Baroque period and J S Bach acknowledged his influence.  This Bachfest programme begins and ends with Bach, first a solo cello Suite and finally a Sonata for cello and harpsichord, bookending a fascinating journey through four Frescobaldi pieces.
