As many of you will be aware, the festival has gone from strength to strength in the past five years, and we are delighted to offer once again in 2017 an impressive array of international musicians performing works by J S Bach and his contemporaries.
Despite the artistic success and the strong contribution that the Bachfest makes to the local economy, the Council has made it clear that the festival cannot expect any future financial support. As a consequence, the Directors have concluded that, if the Bachfest is to continue to bring such wonderful music to this great city, then it must create an Endowment Fund, to be drawn down in any year when our income from ticket sales and specific sponsorships does not meet the festival costs.
To establish this fund to secure the future of the Bachfest, ten of our most-respected concert friends have invested £10,000 each - a sum which we now need to be match-funded by smaller gifts from members of our wider audience, with the intention that the total endowment will reach £200,000. We know so many of you love the Bachfest and appreciate how important it is for our, and future generations of music lovers to share that joy. We are all custodians of this festival, which is so important to the economy and culture of the city.
If you would like to play a key role in underpinning this part of Bath’s musical heritage, please visit http://giv.today/BathBachfest to donate to our online match funding campaign or simply send your donation (marked Endowment Fund) to Bath Box Office along with your 2017 ticket request.
Thank you for your support.
